Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between your celebration cakes & custom cakes?

-- Our celebration cakes are the standard and premium cakes that are pre- designed. They cannot be customized but can be offered in different color palettes.

-- Custom cakes are for when you have your own design. These cakes are often are a higher price due to the amount of time it takes to design and create these specialized works of art.

How much do your cakes cost?

Our celebration cakes start at a base price and include basic frosting covering, two accent colors, and writing. Additional colors, extra piping decoration, and fillings will incur additional charges. Custom cake pricing is determined by size, flavor, and number of servings, with additional charges based on labor hours required for decoration and assembly.

Once we add labor to a cake, the price will reflect this, as pricing is linked to the time it takes to make your design. By letting us know your budget up front, we can guide you as to what is or isn't possible.

How does your ordering process work?

ALL orders MUST fill out our form to be considered. Upon submission, we will follow up with you within 48 hours. If available for your date, we will finalize the details of your order and send you a quote. You have 24 hours to pay 50% of the total. One week prior to your pickup date, your remaining balance will be due.

This guarantees a paper trail of our conversations and ensures that your information and requests remain in one place. I will respond to most e-mails within 24 hours; DM messages on Facebook are NOT checked daily and are sometimes hidden by META. We do NOT take orders through any social media platform ever.

When and where do I pick up my cake?

Yummy AF Bakery is a home bakery, located in Sarasota, Florida within 5 miles of UTC. We are in the 34235 zip code. We will provide our exact address once full payment has been received. Pick ups are by appointment on Thursdays and Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:30am - 1:00pm.

How much advance notice do we need to give for cake orders?

The cake ordering process takes time on top of the actual cake making. It generally takes us about a week to get through all emails, respond, finalize details, send invoices & receive payments so we can put your order on the cake production schedule. This is why we require a MINIMUM of 1 WEEKS notice for celebration cakes and 2-3 WEEKS for custom cakes. Payment is required by Tuesday for your order to be scheduled for production that week. We review all invoices on Tuesdays, and unpaid orders will not be made and your order will be cancelled. This advance payment requirement means we cannot accommodate same-week orders. We'll contact you if our production schedule is fully booked.

What are your hours since you don’t have a storefront?

Our weekly availability is limited and therefore advance notice is required. We are always closed on Mondays, and pick ups are usually on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Can you make a sugar free cake?

We understand some like to limit sugar and still enjoy a sweet treat, but sugar is essential to our specialty baking. Since our Top 9 allergen-free recipes avoid wheat, gluten, and eggs, cane sugar makes up for their crucial structural properties and cannot be substituted. We have found through rigorous trial and error that organic cane sugar creates the proper molecular structure which allows our cakes to maintain their integrity and texture. Coconut sugar does not.

We also use organic powdered cane sugar in our signature American ‘Buttercream’ frosting. For those seeking reduced sugar options, we occasionally offer a low-sugar version using powdered monkfruit sweetener upon special request.

Our mission is to provide safe, traditional treats for those with severe food allergies who otherwise couldn't enjoy a traditional bakery experience. While we're committed to allergen-safe baking, we create authentic sweet treats made with sugar that are meant for special occasions rather than everyday consumption. We can make sugar free cookies using allulose instead of sugar.

Can you make a cake without seed oils?

Our core mission is to provide a genuine bakery experience to those with severe food allergies who can't visit conventional bakeries, and our treats are meant for special occasions rather than daily consumption. Even though we can substitute canola oil with avocado oil in our cakes, the commercial vegan butter used for our ‘buttercream’ frosting is made from seed oils. We have sourced the only brand available in our area that doesn’t contain soy whose taste we found acceptable, reflecting our commitment to allergen-safe baking first. We can make cookies without seed oils.

Can you make a cake without pea protein?

Since our Top 9 allergen-free recipes avoid wheat, gluten, and eggs, we use pea protein and chickpea flour to provide the missing protein needed to maintain structural integrity and achieve the desired cake texture, and cannot be omitted or substituted. We can make cookies without pea protein.

I sent an email and haven’t heard back in a while?

We are closed Sunday and Monday and DO NOT respond to emails on these days. Email response days are Tuesday -Saturday. This is the window in which you will hear a response. Emails are answered in the order in which they are received.
